too much for too little. for non Maryland folks, they charge you $5 per person that's not in a car seat. everything shuts down early on Saturday by 3pm, including the visitor office and art building. I saw a few people fishing and launching their boats, so if fishing is your thing this could be a good place. it's hard to find bathrooms. no maps were provided at the kiosk, but they charge you by the person? the playground is actually quite fun for kids but dangerous as there are no barriers protecting kids from the water. quiet and peaceful, but this is a place that just lacks the wow factor.

Small park but beautiful. Nice trail to walk on plus a marina. Rented a small cabin in the fall and it was clean and could sleep a family of four. However, despite what the description on the web said, there was no heater, and it got fairly cold at night.

Spacious, private camp sites. Small St. Park with only 15 campsites that are well planned and far from other sites. Hiking Trails, boat ramps with excellent bass fishing - so I'm told! Great daytime destination to hike and explore. Don't forget your binoculars and camera as you may see Bald Eagles and much wildlife.

My daughter and I camped here. We were able to Geocache, kayak, watch the osprey and bald eagles, roast marshmallows, and take some cool hikes. Great place.

The most serene location you will find within an hour or two of any point in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This is a well- kept state park, attended by the friendliest staff you will meet. With regular fishing available, a playground, and ample space for a complete immersion in the natural environment, Smallwood has everything a state park could offer. The friendliest frogs may greet you in the mornings.
